The jackets came out for the 2008 Sand Goblin Enduro near Roselawn, Indiana. My engine could have also used a little
more warmth, as it seized about a quarter mile from the start. With temperatures in the mid-30's, we were all a bit cold.
Despite the engine's seizure, like the fool that I am, I went ahead and rode the first half of the race after the engine
finally started up (albeit a little light on compression). All it cost me was a piston and a cylinder re-plating.

Lurking behind the leaders at the start of a dusty race, I made my move....
...and put myself in the third position. I'd gain another spot at the next turn.
Heading out to the woods, in second place. One lap later, my race would be over.

Aledo was a fun race in Western Illinois, hosted by Bill Gusse and his
MXC off-road series. The course was tight and technical, slightly muddy,
and contained enough moto-like terrain to generate a few photos of me
getting as little airtime as possible. Aledo was my only class win of the
season.

The Zwingle hare scramble was my first race in Iowa since 2000, and was one of the most fun races I did in 2008. The
course was fairly long and was made up of many hills and rock ledges. Inside the course was a spectator-friendly
EnduroCross course laid out in an open field. The pictures above show some large rubber tires that some guys made
into a sizeable jump. I pretty much rolled right over them.
Note my left foot off the
peg as I begin a massive
freestyle trick. Sadly, the
cameras missed my
horizontal 360 combined
with a Kiss of Death.
Feet off pegs, ass
attached to seat.
Nothing new there.
More large tires, this
time laid flat across the
trail....and...my feet off
the pegs.
My Zwingle race report has links to a few YouTube videos of the EnduroCross section.

Despite some major flooding at the Cahokia Creek club
grounds over the summer, the sand whoops next to the
creek were as sketchy as ever.
Teammates
This was after the first lap.
There is usually green grass here.
The bike was too heavy to push up the ramp, so I rode
it into the truck. Barely.
Hey, there's a clean spot on the frame!
Matt takes his turn.
