| Travis Pastrana, 16-year-old boy wonder, came from behind to win the 125cc East main event in St. Louis in March 2000, beating Brock Sellards. In his rookie season, Travis would finish the year in 3rd place in the point standings, behind Sellards (#2) and Stephane Roncada (#1). He also won the Daytona Supercross in 2000. Travis went on to win the 125cc National Championship (outdoor motocross) in an amazing come-from-behind series victory over Roncada in the very last moto of the year. Also in 2000, Travis defended his X-Games Freestyle Motocross title in San Francisco. He kept his Suzuki RM125 on dry land (unlike the infamous "Bay Launch" in 1999) and attempted the first backflip in X-Games history. Jeremy McGrath, King of Supercross, won the 250cc Main Event in St. Louis and soundly defeated the rest of the field for the 2000 series championship, his 7th. Jeremy has pretty much shattered every Supercross record there is and will ride again for Yamaha in 2001 and 2002. |
